Petra is a strikingly magnificent ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage Site hidden in the desert canyons of southern Jordan. It is also known as the “Pink City,” the “Lost City,” or the “Rose Red City.” Known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it truly lives up to the hype, where the dusty pink sandstone facade and enchanted desert surroundings are breathtaking. The city of Petra was chiselled into the rock face by the prehistoric Nabateans, who built it amid magnificent mountains and canyons.

Besides its stunning scenery, Petra is also a fascinating historical window into the past. Petra, Jordan’s ancient city, is the country’s crown jewel because it contains 800 monuments while being rich in history and archaeology. Here, you can spend days just exploring the vast underground chambers, climbing the towering tombs, and examining the intricately carved facades from the 4th century BC.

Dana Nature Reserve

The Dana Biosphere Reserve is Jordan’s largest nature reserve, stretching around 292 square kilometres of spectacular terrain along the Great Rift Valley. From a plateau at around 1,500 m in elevation close to Quadesiyya, it gradually descends in a series of mountain ridges to the Wadi Araba desert lowlands. Many steep-sided wadis (valleys) cut through the mountains, and these wadis are often lined with a thick growth of trees and bushes. Besides that, the landscape here is as diverse as the geology, which ranges from limestone to sandstone to granite.

The reserve is unique in that it protects all three of Jordan’s biogeographic zones—the Mediterranean, the Irano-Turanian, and the Sudanian penetration—in a single location. It is home to a vast variety of plant life, including Phoenician juniper, acacia, evergreen oak, sand dunes, and rocky Sudanian, making it the most ecologically varied nature reserve in the country. It also has the southernmost remnant forest population of Cupressus sempervirens.

Wadi Rum

The southern Jordanian region of Wadi Rum has been inscribed as a combined natural and cultural site. A wide variety of small gorges, natural arches, high cliffs, ramps and caverns make up the desert’s interesting topography. The strange terrain and surroundings, with their red sands and otherworldly sandstone mountains, will make you feel like you’ve landed on Mars.

Over a period of 12,000 years, humans have occupied and shaped this area through a combination of intentional and accidental actions, as evidenced by petroglyphs, inscriptions, and archaeological remnants. The 25,000 rock carvings and 20,000 inscriptions show the progression of human cognition and the early development of the alphabet. Additionally, the area shows how pastoral, agricultural, and urban lifestyles have developed over time.

Ruins of Jerash

The Roman city of Jerash, is Jordan’s greatest and most fascinating historical attraction. During its heyday as a major imperial centre, this location was marked by the construction of grand ceremonial gateways, colonnaded avenues, temples, and theatres. Any archaeology buff will have a good time spending half a day here.

Jerash’s remarkable preservation provides a glimpse into the inner workings of a Roman city, helping visitors get a feel for what it may have been like to be there during the Roman era. Our knowledgeable guides and storytelling skills will help bring the ruins to life, creating unforgettable and educational experiences.

Dead Sea

The water at the Dead Sea is the saltiest on Earth, making swimming there impossible, and no living thing can survive in such an environment. It is possible to sit in the salty water and float, though. Due to the high concentration of salt in the water, bathers in the Dead Sea can simply float there and soak up the health benefits without exerting themselves. The best part about this one-of-a-kind opportunity is that it doesn’t cost a dime. Just jump in, and the Dead Sea will take care of the rest.

Furthermore, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth at 423 meters below sea level, making it an even more intriguing tourist attraction. Better still, the Dead Sea’s water, mud, sun, and air all have positive effects on one’s health and appearance. It is commonly recommended that those who suffer from skin ailments take a dip in the Dead Sea to help alleviate their symptoms.
